Event Assistant (EA)
What is it?
The Event Assistant is a role that lies inbetween a Trusted Event Character and an Event Master. They are NOT staff, and do not have access to Staff discords or ingame staff channels, tickets, etc. Event Assistants however are trusted and enabled to facilitate roleplay and granted additional permissions such as; the ability to spawn weapons, npcs, entities, have higher prop counts and access to most EM tools.
Event assistants are expected to 'Buddy' (assist) Event Masters in their events, and are able to facilitate small scale roleplay (Patrols, mini events and operations) on their own if they wish to. They are required to conduct two buddies/minis a week, or host one operation a week to maintain their position (Quota). They cannot solo run or host main events such as the 5:30s and 8:30s.
What are the requirements to become an Event Assistant?
EA applicants are expected to be well known in the community, trusted with tools and additional permissions and have a good sense of roleplay and creativity.
You must be at least 16 yrs of age (Same as an EM) and while not a hard limit, your time on the server, involvement in the community, reputation and the like will factor into your acceptance or denial.
Event Assistants have a reduced quota (requirement to run events) as compared to Event Masters, with the trade-off of having less powers.
Applicants must make a case as to why an Event Assistant Role may be preferable to them as opposed to an Event Master role. This will typically be because the time constraints of being a full time Event Master with designing and running events may not be possible for the applicant.
What are their permissions?
An Event Assistant can;
- Run small scale roleplay (Mini Event) on the main server. They must /ticket to advise staff when doing so. (This is to advise staff and not to request permission, however Staff may deny this if other roleplay or activities are occuring)
- Run Operations on their own
- Use most (But not all) Tools available to Event Masters (Holograms, Hyperspace, Destruction, Drop Pods etc)
- Can spawn in NPCs, Weapons, and Entities (Vehicles)
- Assist Event Masters in any EM related business, building and running events, operations, roleplay.
An Event Assistant cannot;
- Run 5:30 and 8:30 events on their own or as the Host
- Run Mini Events/Patrols or Roleplay on main without first informing Staff via /Ticket
- use Administrate (Infinite cloak + infinite jetpack is their alternative)
- Use Staff chat, discords, or take tickets (They have no access to this)
- Use administrative powers such as Gag, mute, kick, etc. (They have no access to this)
- Attend Staff or EM meetings and therefore cannot vote on or discuss EM matters
- Grant Event Character permission (On main, but may do so for their own operation)
What is the purpose of this role? Why not apply for EM?
Event Assistant is a unique role designed to enable trusted, knowledgeable and creative community members to contribute to the server while not mandating main events or additional staffing burdens on them. This may be preferable for some people who do not have the time or passion to be a full Event Master.
Is there a Trial Phase and what does it consist of?
Event Assistants will be assigned a Buddy who will teach them the skills necessary as an Event Assistant. They will then need to complete 1 Trial Operation as the main host. This operation will consist of less players than a main event. EA's are expected to at least be capable of operations. During their Trial period they may also assist EMs in main events.
The Trial period does not have a set time, but it is expected that they will facilitate a trial operation within 1 week of being accepted.
Who decides if I am accepted as an Event Assistant and if I pass my Trial?
Event Assistant decisions will rest with the Senior Event Master Team (SEMs + HEM). The group will approve applications and will determine pass/fail of Trial phases.
How do I maintain my position as an Event Assistant?
Event Assistants will be expected to get 1 'Event Point' per week. This can be achieved through Mini RP or Buddying in Events (0.5 Points each) or hosting an Operation (1 Point). This quota might not always be met due to LOAs and the like, which is acceptable. However if there is a period of underperformance without proper LOA then the slot will be removed.
Misbehaviour as an Event Assistant may also result in removal of the slot. EAs are not Staff and therefore are not held to the same Staff Strike system. Misbehaviour depending on its severity may result in instant removal from the position.
